Itchimbia Park

Quito´s view from an altitude of 2,910 m is possible from Itchimbía Park, of approximately 54 hectares, located in the east center of the capital and has an impressive 360 degree view, from there you will clearly distinguish the center, north and south, churches, monuments, parks and the famous avenue of volcanoes that surrounds the city. Crystal Palace

El Palacio de Cristal or also known as Itchimbia Cultural Center is located in the center-east of the city of Quito. Its facilities are designed for exhibitions and cultural activities. It is equipped with high technology, robotic lights, closed circuit television, panoramic view, an audio with interior temperature control that ensures a quality sound, in addition to parking, corridors, green spaces, private security and a main room of 1,300 square meters.

Among its features is the Palacio de Cristal, whose name is due to its construction with large windows that show an impressive view of downtown Quito. For its construction the old metallic structure of the first closed market of the city was used: Santa Clara. The structure was moved from Belgium in 1899 and moved from Guayaquil to "lomo de mula".

Pims Itchimbia

  • In Manuel Manuel Samaniego, next to the park, there is a great variety of places to eat something or enjoy a drink with friends.
  • The restaurant El Cielo Quiteño, the Café Mosaico or the hideout of Cantuña are a good alternative.

Itchimbia History

  • Itchimbia covers an area of 54 hectares in one of the picturesque hills of Quito.
  • The park is located on the hill of the same name that the indigenous locals dedicated to the moon and the sun. Through the Andean cosmovision, the first inhabitants saw the possibility of using it as a center of vigilance and wisdom.
  • This park is also known as "La Botica de Quito", for the variety of medicinal plants that are cultivated in its area.
  • It was also the rancho Piedrahíta, the headquarters of Quito's first channel "TV Quito", which later became a garbage dump. However, through the action of FONSAL, it recovered and became a public space where educational, recreational, cultural and tourist activities are carried out.
