• Address: Av. Ambato and Pasaje Marcial Soria (corner). Interior of the church, in front of the Central Park of Patate located near the Tungurahua volcano, this canton has a lot of faith in its patron saint.
• Patate means 'He who explodes with thunder', in reference to the Mama Tungurahua volcano, which is located near the town. Its people are very catholic and feel special devotion to the Lord of Earthquake. The parent church of Patate has devoted itself to this image, which is the size of an adult person and represents a King, with a crown of thorns. Villagers comment that on February 4th 1797, after the earthquake, a couple of indigenous heard the sound of a bell, in the middle of the field.
• Suddenly they found the image of Jesus. Since then they worship the image. During the holidays, which are held the first days of February, thousands of devotees participate in the night procession, forming rows and lighting the street with candles. The procession concludes  at about ten o'clock at night with games.
