Cubijíes Parish
What you should know?
Cubijíes Parish was established in the year 1600.
Cubijíes is one of the oldest towns in the province of Chimborazo. As a rural parish, it came into existence some 66 years after the Spanish colonization.
Its name comes from three different interpretations; however, the most common one ("cubixas cobijas") refers to the large textile workshops where blankets and cloaks were made for the personal use and service of the King, his court, and dynasty.
It is located 11 km (about 6.8 miles) from the city of Riobamba, on the road to Penipe. To get to Cubijíes, you can take the Químiag bus at the Eastern Terminal.

San Jerónimo Church
The church was built in 1980 and is where parishioners gather to hold the parish's traditional festivities.
Every September 30th, the feast in honor of San Jerónimo (St. Jerome), the patron saint of the town, is celebrated. The purpose is for the saint to intercede before the Almighty to send rains, provide protection, and prevent frosts and plagues that could destroy their crops.
Santa Cecilia Park
In the center of the park, there is a fountain in honor of Santa Cecilia (St. Cecilia), considered the patron saint of music because she was unjustly condemned to death and sang during her martyrdom.
